- CO2 EXTRACT – CO2 extraction is a process using pressurised CO2 to extract all botanical materials from the plant, creating a pure, clean, high-quality product with no solvent residue. CO2 extracts are generally more representative of the original plant material than when plant matter is extracted by other means such as steam distillation or solvent extraction.

Cocoa CO2, a Sweetly Soothing CO2 Extracted Oil
A solid extract with butterscotch colour. Uplifting, emotionally, physically and spiritually supportive oil, everything that we need from the comforting nature of chocolate. Soothing, relaxing, sensual and the high fatty acid content makes it an excellent conditioner for the skin. Warm gently before use to make it blendable – gorgeous combined with Coffee, Peppermint or Cinnamon Bark CO2 Extracts.
What is the difference between a CO2 Select and CO2 Total Extract?
Total extracts – These require higher pressure and low temperatures during extraction, with the resultant extract containing a high proportion of compounds such as fatty acids, waxes, resins, and any plant pigments. The oil is similar in nature to a complete extraction of all the Phyto-botanical materials. They are often semi solid or solid and must be gently warmed to use them like a liquid.
Select extracts – Require low pressure and low temperature with the resultant liquid/extract being made up of only volatile material. This method avoids thermal degradation, avoids oxidation and the result can be used like an essential oil. The oil differs from the distilled or solvent extracted version as it can have a very different chemical composition. Select extracts contain between 35% to 95% essential oil along with fatty acids and other fatty substances.

To source the best raw material suppliers, we travel the world and only opt for oils and other raw materials from controlled, sustainable sources that have little or no negative impact on the environment. This Cocoa CO2 extract has been sourced from Cacao trees in South America, then tested on site at our Hampshire laboratories to ensure excellent quality.
In addition, none of the Absolute Aromas products are tested on animals, and all are vegan and free from GM materials.
How to use Cocoa CO2 Extract
The high fatty acid content in this CO2 extract makes it an excellent moisturiser for the skin, especially areas of the body that suffer the most such as heels, elbows, legs and knees. Massage diluted into these areas each night for soft, nourished skin and to lock in moisture.
TO NOTE: Do not use in pregnancy or when breastfeeding. Do a patch test 24 hours prior to first use to test for sensitivities and always use diluted at the correct ratio. Not suitable for use on children.
