Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) oil

HOW TO USE

Inhale the aroma of Myrrh CO2 Extract directly from the bottle or add a few drops to a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam to soothe during times of stuffiness when you need warmth and clarity.  When used in massage, combine with a carrier oil following the dilution ratio guidance on the packaging (we recommend no more than 3%) – try blends with Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Patchouli and Citrus Oils.

TO NOTE:  Do not use in pregnancy or when breastfeeding.  Do a patch test 24 hours prior to first use to test for sensitivities and always use diluted at the correct ratio.  Not suitable for use on children.

Key Features

  • CO2 EXTRACT – CO2 extraction is a process using pressurised CO2 to extract all botanical materials from the plant, creating a pure, clean, high-quality oil or solid with no solvent residue. CO2 extracts are generally more representative of the original plant material than oils extracted by other means such as steam distillation or solvent extraction.  Myrrh is a natural gum or resin taken from the Genus Commiphora tree.
  • AROMATHERAPY – Myrrh CO2 extract is used in aromatherapy for its grounding and calming effects. It helps reduce feelings associated with stress and worry, promoting a sense of tranquillity and well-being.  Because of this, use it to diffuse in your home or use it diluted in massage to help calm.  It has also been used for thousands of years in skincare blends to target signs of ageing and to boost skin condition.

  • HOW TO USE – Myrrh is a ‘Select’ extract, so it can be used for diffusion.  It’s rich in antioxidants that help combat free radicals, reducing the appearance of age-related concerns when used diluted on the skin.  Try it blended at a ratio of around 1-2% in Organic Rosehip Oil for a nourishing skin treat for mature skin.
  • QUALITY – 100% Pure and natural, premium quality CO2 Myrrh Extract. Vegan, GMO-free, cruelty-free, and sustainably sourced from Somalia, Ethiopia. Latin name: Commiphora myrrha.

Myrrh CO2, a Wonderfully Grounding CO2 Extract

Its deep, warm, and earthy scent makes it a popular choice for meditation and spiritual practices, enhancing focus and mindfulness.  The scent of Myrrh CO2 Essential Oil extract is complex and multifaceted, with a rich blend of warm, earthy, balsamic, spicy, smoky, musky, and medicinal notes. It evokes a sense of warmth, comfort and calm.

What is the difference between a CO2 Select and CO2 Total Extract?

Total extracts – These require higher pressure and low temperatures during extraction, with the resultant extract containing a high proportion of compounds such as fatty acids, waxes, resins, and any plant pigments. The oil is similar in nature to a complete extraction of all the Phyto-botanical materials. They are often semi solid or solid and must be gently warmed to use them like a liquid.
Select extracts – Require low pressure and low temperature with the resultant liquid/extract being made up of only volatile material. This method avoids thermal degradation, avoids oxidation and the result can be used like an essential oil. The oil differs from the distilled or solvent extracted version as it can have a very different chemical composition. Select extracts contain between 35% to 95% essential oil along with fatty acids and other fatty substances.
