Invite Spring into your home with Floral Essential Oils

Various bottles of floral essential oils

Floral Essential Oils, derived from the aromatic blossoms of various flowering plants, captivate the senses with their enchanting aromas and offer a myriad of therapeutic benefits. From the delicate scent of our Rose Essential Oil from Bulgaria to the exotic fragrance of our Indian Jasmine, floral Essential Oils have been cherished for centuries for their diverse uses in aromatherapy, skincare, and natural perfumery. Each floral oil possesses its own unique aroma profile and therapeutic properties, making them versatile and valuable additions to any holistic wellness routine.

Focus on Rose

One of the most beloved floral Essential Oils is rosa damascene or Rose Essential Oil, extracted from the petals of the Rosa Damascena species. Renowned for its exquisite aroma and luxurious properties, Rose oil is cherished for its ability to promote emotional well-being, uplift the spirit, and historically has been used to inspire feelings of love and compassion. In aromatherapy, Rose Essential Oil is often used to soothe over-thinking and worry. Rose is also popular for use in skincare, especially for dry and mature skin types. Its gentle yet potent fragrance makes it a popular ingredient in skincare products, where it helps moisturize and rejuvenate the skin, and promote a radiant complexion.

On average, it can take anywhere from several hundred to several thousand Rose petals to produce just one millilitre of pure Rose Essential Oil using steam distillation, which is one of the most common methods of extraction of this precious liquid.  This is why Rose Essential Oil can be quite expensive when pure, and is therefore often diluted in an unscented carrier oil such as fractionated Coconut oil to make it more affordable.  Because of its value, Rose is often a prized ingredient in perfumery, loved for its rich, floral fragrance and complex aroma profile. It adds depth, sweetness, and sophistication to fragrance blends, creating luxurious and captivating scents. Whether used as a standalone fragrance or combined with other Essential Oils and botanical extracts, Rose lends an air of romance and elegance to perfumes, body sprays, and colognes.  One of our best selling products each Summer is our pure Aloe Vera Gel which we infuse with Rose Essential Oil to provide soothing relief to sunkissed or irritated skin.

Rose Petals for Aromatherapy

Rose blends beautifully with many other Essential Oils; try 2 drops of Patchouli or Ylang Ylang and 2 drops of Rose they create a rich and exotic fragrance that promotes emotional balance, confidence, and sensuality so it’s perfect for a romantic massage when diluted in Sweet Almond Oil.  If you’re looking for something a little fresher and more uplifting, Neroli Essential Oil, derived from bitter Orange blossoms, has a sweet, citrusy aroma with floral undertones that pair beautifully with Rose. Blending the two creates a luxurious and uplifting fragrance that promotes joy and a feeling of being enlivened so it’s a lovely one to diffuse into your home for a luxurious, Spring-like scent.

Our Other Favourite Florals and their Benefits

A classic and well-known Essential Oil is of course the ever-popular and adored Lavender, distilled from the fragrant purple blooms of the Lavandula Angustifolia plant.  Lavender Essential Oil has long been celebrated for its calming and soothing properties, making it a staple in aromatherapy for promoting relaxation, soothing stress, and supporting rest. Its gentle aroma makes it incredibly versatile and widely used Essential Oil and is a staple in many blends that calm and aid rest.  In our Essential Blend Relaxation, we combine our gentle Lavender with Tangerine, Bergamot, Lavender, Petitgrain, May Chang and Ylang Ylang Essential Oils.  This blend is great when used as a pillow spray and you can easily make your own with (60 ml) distilled water, 1 tablespoon of witch hazel or vodka (optional but this does help disperse the Essential Oils) and 20 drops of our Relaxation Blend.  Alternatively you can use our Goodnight Essential Blend which has been specially formulated by our expert aromatherapists to help relax and soothe the senses, a wonderful natural alternative for a restful night.

Jasmine Essential Oil, derived from the delicate white flowers of the Jasminum Grandiflorum plant, is revered for its exotic and intoxicating aroma. Jasmine oil has long been used for its aphrodisiac properties, inspiring feelings of romance, sensuality, and intimacy. In aromatherapy, Jasmine oil is used to uplift the mood, boost confidence, and boost mood. Its luxurious fragrance also makes it a popular ingredient in natural perfumery, where it adds depth, complexity, and floral sweetness to fragrance blends.  This intensely floral oil is dark orange in colour and somewhat viscous, but very little is required to add the characteristic aroma to any blend which is why it is often available diluted as a little really does go a long way.  For a wonderfully luxurious massage oil, blend 1 drop of Jasmine, 1 drop of Sandalwood and 3 drops of Mandarin in 10ml of Peach Kernel oil.  Or try blending 1 drop of Jasmine and 1 drop of Neroli in 20ml of Coconut oil and dab a small amount on the wrists as a completely natural alternative to perfume, although we do recommend avoiding using in the first four months of pregnancy.

Lavender Fields - Absolute Aromas

Neroli Essential Oil, extracted from the blossoms of the bitter Orange tree (Citrus aurantium), is renowned for its uplifting and fresh floral aroma. Neroli oil is cherished for its ability to soothe feelings of stress and promote emotional balance. Neroli’s delicate floral scent is also prized in skincare, where it helps balance oil production and rejuvenate the skin.  You can make your own skincare serum using just three simple ingredients – 2 pump of our rich Vitamin E cream, 30ml of golden Rosehip Oil and 5 drops of Neroli.  Combine these ingredients in an amber glass jar as sunlight can reduce the therapeutic effects of the ingredients and apply your serum as and when needed.  This mixture needn’t be solely reserved for use on your face – it’s a really nourishing blend you can use on other areas of dry skin too like elbows and knees.  Use sparingly as it will go a long way!

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is distilled from the vibrant yellow flowers of the Cananga Odorata tree which grows in the Indian Ocean area and its celebrated for its exotic and sensual aroma.  It has a wonderfully exotic aroma in its own right but also blends well with Sandalwood, Bergamot, Rose, Jasmine, May Chang or Sweet Orange Essential Oils.  Used blended into a carrier oil like Argan, Ylang Ylang can help nourish the scalp and improve the overall condition of the hair so can be used as a treatment oil weekly to boost scalp and hair condition – that’s one way to elevate your self-care regime!

In conclusion, floral essential oils offer a wealth of therapeutic benefits and aromatic delights for the mind, body, and spirit. From the romantic scent of rose to the exotic fragrance of jasmine, each floral oil possesses its own unique charm and healing properties. Whether used in aromatherapy, skincare, or natural perfumery, floral essential oils continue to captivate and inspire with their enchanting aromas and profound effects on well-being.
